Annual Counts

I track every bird, wildflower, and butterfly species I positively identify each year – primarily in Montana, but my counts do including occasional travel. I report each find to iNaturalist to provide scientists with real world data they may be able to use in their research.

Chestnut-collared Longspur

Out of the 442 species of birds that pass through Montana each year, my goal is to track down 200 or more by exploring as wide a variety of habitats as time allows. It’s an ongoing pursuit of field time and observation. My long-term hope is that I can dedicate even more days ahead to documenting the rich natural life of our great state and region.
