Today, the day before Father’s Day, we went to Benton Lake. we started our day at the fairgrounds so the Labrador could run some energy off and then we went to Benton Lake. on the way home from Benton Lake we stopped at first peoples Buffalo jump State Park and did a little more walking. Overall the birding was incredible! I am writing this blog post as I sit on the deck at 7 o’clock on June 20, 2020. It is the longest day of the year and we have 79 species of birds positively identified today.
We picked up at least one life bird and several of your birds. The life bird was a McCown’s Longspur. When we left home, we really wanted to see Terns, Burrowing Owls, Short-eared Owls and Long-billed Curlews.
We were successful on all counts.
We also saw three Black-crowned Night Herons, a Badger and Obsidian was dive bombed by a Willet.
