Helena’s trail diversity and easy access. We have at least 16 trailheads and several miles of paved, accessible pathways in Helena. Trails like Far East, Prospect Shafts, Quarry, Prickly Pear, Rodney Ridge, Swaney, and Rocky Road offer a huge variety of trailscapes, views, time commitments, and levels of challenge all while starting within the city limits.
Centennial Park & Centennial Trail, LeGrande Cannon Sidewalk, the ‘block’ that surrounds Capital High and cattail corner, and the other ‘block’ that surrounds Bill Roberts golf course, and Nature Park are decently maintained in the winter and provide accessible outdoor access nearly year round.
Traveling to other places and learning that we have the best urban trail system in the state of Montana – right on our doorstep with about 100 miles spread out across the south hills system alone – is just another reason that I love Helena.
I am deeply grateful for our access to nature and the diversity of our trails.
