The colors are really beginning to change.
Mini-ridge and E-trail are quite nice right now. A feral apple tree along lower mini-ridge is producing apples- much to the joy of the deer, I suspect. There are a few Harebells hanging on and providing pops of purple, but I have not seen them yet.
The winners today were the False Salomon’s Seal. These berries in the early, smoke-filtered light were beautiful to come across. These colors simply scream autumn.
Let’s hope for a nice combination of high elevation snow and moisture we need to help keep the streams and aquifers healthy and a lingering fall that gives us more time to ramble about in the hills for a good while before the inevitable winter closes us out.
Balance- just looking for a little balance.
