Part 1
We made it out on six hikes across several areas of Mount Helena and a nice loop over and around Bompart Hill. I am at 22,500 steps for the day and the total trail mileage is 10.4 (16.7k). The Lab is pretty tired. The density and diversity of wildflowers on Bompart is amazing right now. We found nineteen species of wildflowers in bloom, including Valerian, a Bladderpod, Chickweed, and (surprisingly) Alpine Forget Me Not. Most of Bompart is pretty natural and I disturbed. If you can get to one trail this weekend for flowers, make it the Rocky Road loop to the top of Bompart Hill. The conditions are amazing.
What a nice day (part 2)
We made it out on six hikes across several areas of Mount Helena and a nice loop over and around Bompart Hill. I am at 22,500 steps for the day and the total trail mileage is 10.4 (16.7k). The Lab is pretty tired. The conditions are amazing on Mount Helena, too. Since our luck was so good on Bompart Hill, we decided to hit Mount Helena for a look-see. Twenty species in just under an hour including Wartberry Fairybells, a vestry sweet little one flowered Forget Me Not, dozens of Nuttall’s Violets either in bloom or getting ready, a huge Wyoming Kittentail, a Paintbrush staging for blooming, one of the Groundsels also getting ready to bloom, and many more
