HelenaOutdoors is live

The latest website that I have been working on is live. It’s incomplete, and I have a lot of work to do on it, but it’s out there. HelenaOutdoors.com

The Greater Helena Area has better access to trails, including over 15 miles (24km) of accessible trails, than does any other city in Montana. If you’re looking for a new trail to experience, follow this blog or the Instagram feed (@HelenaOutdoors) and I’ll be posting regularly from trails all around Helena.

I’ve logged over 800 miles (1,288k) on Helena’s trails this year and I’m shooting for 1,000 miles (1608k) in 2024.

One of my daughters (who’s a wiz at GIS) and I have determined that no one within the Helena City Limits is ever much more than six miles (9.6k) from one of Mount Helena’s or Mount Ascension’s trailheads. Toss in the trails systems at The Grove, the Scratchgravels, Tenmile Creek, Spring Meadow, and a few of Helena’s other parks and the distance drops to about 3 miles (4.8k).

But no social media feed is enough to actually be safe in the hills – I encourage anyone who is planning to get outdoors in Helena to visit the Prickly Pear Land Trust site – @pricklypearlandtrust, the Base Camp – @thebasecamp_mt, or Montana Book Company – @mtbookco and get a South Hills Trails map – and then get moving and enjoy Helena Outdoors.

See you on the trails.
