More Mammals than Birds today

So, that heading is not quite enturely true- we did see a few birds. But considering we went from Marysville to Sieben to Lake Helena to Mt. Helena, we had hoped to see lots of birds. We didn’t, but the fun is in the trying- not always in the succeding.

To that end, we did flush two moose from a willow thicket near a creek and had the opportunity to watch them as they simply walked up a sheer, snowy, tree covered hillside. I feel like it would have taken us at least a half an hour to traverse what they did in about 5 minutes.

A few minutes later, on the same creek, we watched a beaver watch us. Add in the Mule- and White-tailed Deer, and Pronghorns on the outskirts of town, and we had quite a mammalian day.
