151 Bird Species For The Year

May 19, 2019
A good day. I saw a Black Crowned Night Heron- perhaps the one that has been haunting the Ponds. When I saw it, it was flying out of the Spring Meadow Resources pond towards Spring Meadow Lake. I watched it fly over the far end of the Lake and gave chase.

No luck, but I ran into another birder/photographer who also saw it. He said it headed off towards the Fairgrounds. I returned to the Lake and walked for about 80 minutes later in the day- maybe covered 3/4 mile. I saw dozens of Yellow-rumped Warblers, several Yellow Warblers, many Yellowthroats, a brilliantly colored male Redstart, a Nashville Warbler, Rednecked Grebe, and a dozen Swainson’s Thrush.

Over the weekend, I saw and was finally able to get some decent images of Lincoln’s Sparrow, Savannah Sparrow, Clay Colored Sparrow, and Chipping Sparrow. We were also able to see a Sora in addition to hearing it.
