Coast To Caldera

We left Brookings, Oregon at about 8 o’clock this morning. We drove to Crater Lake National Park, had a quick bite of lunch and got out and walked around on about 12 feet of snow. Didn’t stay long, as the walking was very difficult. We did see a Gray Jay, so that was a plus! And the view from the lodge out over the lake and the ability to see Wizard island was really impressive.

Yesterday was amazing as well- we saw a Golden Crowned Sparrow, Black Turnstones playing in a tide pool from out on an amazing spot of land sticking into the Pacific, Golden and Rudy Crowned Kinglets, a Red Shouldered Hawk, and a Say’s Phoebe. All told we are at 96 year birds and 21 new life birds- Not too shabby!
